About
Ahmed Gomaa
I teach IB DP Physics in Egypt and have more than 8 years of experience with the IB Diploma Programme. I made this site so my students, and students anywhere, can learn physics the way a good teacher explains it: one clear step at a time.
Qualifications
- IB certified teacher for the IB Diploma Programme
- PGCEi: Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International)
- More than 8 years teaching IB DP Physics (HL and SL)
Results
In May 2026, 32 of my students sat their IB Physics exams: three classes and five private students.
| May 2026 | Students | DP years I taught them | Predicted (average) | Final (average) | World average |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Physics HL · class A | 5 | 2 (DP1, DP2) | 5.8 | 6.2 | 5.0 |
| Physics SL · class A | 5 | 2 (DP1, DP2) | 4.8 | 5.4 | 4.3 |
| Physics HL · class B | 17 | 1 (DP2 only) | 4.5 | 4.6 | 5.0 |
| Physics HL · private students | 5 | 2 (DP1, DP2) | 5.0 | 6.0 | 5.0 |
On average, every group did better than its predicted grade. Class A, taught for both DP years, finished above the world average: +1.2 grades in HL and +1.1 in SL. My private students, also taught for both DP years, finished 1.0 above the world average. Class B joined me only for DP2 and finished 0.4 below the world average, but 16 of its 17 students met or beat their predicted grade. World averages: the IB’s provisional statistical bulletin, May 2026 (Physics HL 5.0 from 19,035 students; Physics SL 4.3 from 14,461 students).
How I teach
Every topic starts with a picture or an animation, so the maths has something to hold on to.
Students learn where each formula comes from and when it works, not just how to use it.
Regular timed practice, marked with IB-style markschemes, with feedback on every step.
Each topic lists the errors students make most, so they can avoid them in the exam.
